Targeting to educate and awaken the minds of the youth regarding the phenomena and plight of our Mother Earth until today, St. Mary of the Woods School actively participated in the 2015 Green Film Festival held at Walter Mart Makati on July 7.

It is a project of SM Prime Holdings Inc. wherein students from grade 4 to 10, teachers, representatives and authorities watched a traumatic and heart-rending documentary film apropos the victims devastated by Typhoon Yolanda. This program is in line with the school’s observance of the National Disaster Preparedness Week and National Disaster Consciousness Month this July.

Furthermore, Yukilyn C. Matano, representative of SMWS HS Department Student Council, showered goosebumps to the audience and silence to the auditorium as she delivered a speech that says we humans are the reason why Earth suffers and what we do now shapes the future. She also mentioned happenings that gives predicament to our world such as Global Warming, Climate Change, etc.

We should altogether hold hand-in-hand in order to make our planet Earth a better place once again. To be honest, currently the Earth is sick and the humans are the virus, Global Warming is the fever while the government is a cheap medicine bought in a fake boutique. We should prove that small hands make a big difference. Congratulations SMWS for your active involvement in promoting and showing love and care for our environment!
